You can put this solution on YOUR website!
Seminole dairy farm has 100 gal of milk that is 4.6%butterfat. How much skim milk (no butterfat) should be mixed with it to make milk that is 3.2% fat?
-----------
4.6% solution DATA:
Amt = 100 gallons ; Amt of butterfat = 0.046(100) = 4.6 gallons
----------
Skim solution DATA:
Amt = x gallons ; Amt of butter fat = 0
-----------------
3.2% Mixture DATA:
Amt = 100+x gallons ; Amt of butter fat = 0.032(100+x)= 3.2 + 0.032x gallons
--------------
EQUATION:
fat + fat = fat
4.6 + 0 = 3.2+0.032x
0.032x = 1.4
x = 43.75 gallons of Skim milk should be added.
