Question 86332: HELP PLEASE!! I AM CONfusED to DEATH. it will be greatley appreciated
One triangle has area 126 and base 12. Find the area of a similar triangle with base 16

area of triangle 1 A1=126 base=b1=12 area of triangle2 = ? if base= b2=16
a1=1/2b1.h1 h1=2a1/b1=2.126/12 = 21 h1=21
area of triangle A2 = 1/2.b2.h2 but h1=h2 (similar triangles)
= 1/2.16.21
=168

Two similar cones have scale factor 5:2. If the total area of the larger cone is 375, find the total area of the smaller cone.

area of acube= l^2 volume of a cube = l^3
A1/A2=40.5/72 =405/720=81/144.L1/L2=9/12
V1/v2=9/12.9/12.9/12= 729/1728.

Question 86330: can someone please help me, i really need help with these ones. they are confusing me
Find the area:
A square with diagnol 8
diagonal squared = 2.(side)squared
8.8 = 2.(side)squared
32 = (side)squared
side = square root of 32=4.sqrt.2
therefore area of a square= side.side = 4.sqrt2.4.sqrt2=32
area of 45-45-90 triangle with hypotenuse of 2sqrt6
since the angles of the other two sides are equal their corresponding sides are
equal. hence (hypo)sq=(side)sq+(side)sq
(2sqrt6)square = 2.(side)square
4.6/2 = (side)square
12=(side)square side= 2.sqrt3
area of the triangle = 1/2.base.height
= 1/22.sqrt3.2.sqrt3 = 2.3 = 6
area of rhombus = 1/2.product of diagonals
= 1/2.18.15 = 135 .
a hexagon has six equilateral triangles hence area of hexgon = sum of the area
of all the triangles.
area of an equilateral triangle= sqrt3.side square/4=sqrt3.10.10/4=25sqrt3
area of the hexagon = 6.25.sqrt3 = 150.sqrt3.

A 45-45-90 triangle with hyptonenuse of 2 square root of 6
A rhombus with diagonals 18 and 15
A regular hexagon with sides of 10 cm

Question 90369: Suppose you wanted to construct a fence around a garden plot in the form of a rectangle. On the neighbor’s side it’s going to need heavy-duty fencing that costs $2.00 per foot. The other three sides can be made of standard fencing material that costs $1.20 foot. You have $200 to spend.
1. How many different rectangles would it be possible to enclose for $200?
2. Write an equation using two variables for the total cost of the fence. Use x and y to represent the width and length of the rectangle. Solve the equation for one of the variables (either x or y).

3. Given that Area = (x)(y), now write the area function for this problem using ONLY ONE VARIABLE (by making a substitution using the equation from #2).

4. What dimensions will give the maximum area inside the fence?
5. What will be the maximum area?
