Question 965514: Bethany divided a circle with a radius of 7 inches into 6 equal sectors. What is the area of one of the sectors?
A. 12/7 in^2
B. 14/6 in^2
C. 36/7 in^2
D. 49/6 in^2

I thought that it would be 42, but that's not in the answers. So I think it would be C, but if not, possibly D? Thank you!

You can put this solution on YOUR website!
the area of a circle is pi * r^2.

the area of your circle would be pi * 7^2 = 49 * pi.

1/6 of that area would be 49/6 * pi.

your solution would be 49/6 * pi.

that would be selection D if all those selections were * pi.

6 * 7 would not be correct.

the formula for the area of a circle is pi * r^2.

if you have 6 sectors, and all those sectors are the same size, then the area of each of those sectors has to be the area of the circle divided by 6.
