Question 936655: Hello there, I have a question on Ratio of Areas of Similar Geometric figures.
The problem says: "The ratio of the area of the small circle to the area of the big circle is 1 to 64. What is the ratio of the radius of the small circle to the radius of the big circle?"
I always have conflict with this kind of problems because I don't understand them. Could you explain also this concept to me?
Thanks in advance.

You can put this solution on YOUR website!

Hi,

A = pi%2Ar%5E2
.....
%28pi%2Ar%5B1%5D%5E2%29%2F%28pi%2Ar%5B2%5D%5E2%29++=+1%2F64
r%5B1%5D%5E2%2Fr%5B2%5D%5E2+=+1%2F64
r%5B1%5D%2Fr%5B2%5D+=+sqrt%281%2F64%29+=++1%2F8
...
whether a person 'remembers' or generates the relationship...
It is what it is...
