You can put this solution on YOUR website!
I'm building a kiln. How many 4"x8" bricks are needed to build the pit, size 8' in diameter by 4' high?
--------------------
You can calculate the area.
For the bottom, it's {{pi*r^2 = 16pi}}} sq ft
= 144%2A16%2Api sq inches
Each brick is 32 sq inches
144%2A16%2Api%2F32 =~ 226.2 bricks on the bottom
but you have to take into account that they can't all fit into a circular area.
------------
For the sides:
Area+=+pi%2Ad%2Ah+=+pi%2A96%2A48+=+4608pi sq inches
You only gave 2 dimensions for the bricks. If the 4 by 8 faces from the sides, then you need 4608*pi/32 bricks
=~ 452.4 bricks
------------------------
If this is for actual construction, get a few extra.
