Question 833829: If the length of a rectangle is three times the width, W, what is the perimeter of the rectangle in terms of W?
(A) 2 (3+W)
(B) 4 (3+W)
(C) 3W
(D) 4W
(E) 8W
My answer key says the answer is (E), but I don't understand how you get the answer. Please help me! Answer by LinnW(1048) (Show Source):
You can put this solution on YOUR website! Set L = length
W = width
L = 3W
The perimeter of a rectangle is 2W + 2L ( two short sides and two long sides )
Substituting 3W for L
2W + 2(3W)
2W + 6W
8W
