let the length be x
so the length is decreased by 5%
(x-(5/100)*x) is the new length
=95x/100
let breadth be y
it is increased by 5%
so the new breadth = y+(5y/100) = 105y/100
Area after the change = 95x/100 * 105y/100
Area before the change = xy
change in area
xy+-+%28%2895x%2A105y%29%2F10000%29
=25xy%2F100000+
change in area/ area before change *100 = percentage change
25xy%2F100000/xy *100
0.025% change
