First of all, you have to remember that a square has 4 equal sides to it. In your problem, the perimeter is 54 inches. Therefore, with four equal sides, each side is 13.5 inches. ( NOTE: 13.5 inches X 4 sides = 54 inches ) Now you can find the area of the square.
