Question 572955: The vertices of rectangle ABCD are A(2,3), B(5,3), C(5,9) and D(2,9).
Find the area of ABCD. What is the scale factor of the dilation that produces an image with an area that is twice that of the original?
I have found out that the rectangle of the original area is 18 square units by using the distance formula. I need help on the scale factor.

You can put this solution on YOUR website!
If you dilate a rectangle (or any shape) by a factor of x, the area increases by a factor of x%5E2.
x%5E2=2 --> x=sqrt%282%29
The scale factor is highlight%28sqrt%282%29%29
