All four corners inside the box around the circle is shaded. There is 10 inches on one side of the outside of the box and there is 10 inches on the bottom outside of the box. Please advise. All four corners inside the box around the circle is shaded. There is 10 inches on one side of the outside of the box and there is 10 inches on the bottom outside of the box.

We want to find the area of the square, then subtract the area of the circle from that.

Find the area of the box: 10^2 = 100 sq/in

From the description the diameter of the circle = 10; r = 5
A = pi%2A5%5E2
A = 78.54 sq/in
:
100 - 78.54 = 21.46 ~ 21.5 sq/in is the shaded area
