Question 141510: three faces of a box have a common vertex and their combined area is 20cm squared. What is the total surface area of the box?
thank you.

You can put this solution on YOUR website! Presuming it is a rectangular box, then three faces with a common vertex must have half the surface area of the entire box. That's because a rectangular box could have 2 each of three differently dimensioned rectangles, but in order for three of the sides to have a common vertex, you would have to have one of each of the differently dimensioned rectangles, and the missing pieces would be exactly the same as to size and shape.
