Question 1163335: Find the total grazing area of the goat G represented in the figure (a top view) shown at right. The animal is tied to a corner of a 40′ ×40′ barn, by an 80′ rope. One of the sides of the barn is extended by a fence. Assume that there is grass everywhere except inside the barn.

Surely, without seeing a picture, we can only guess what is shown in it and how this special corner of the barn relates to the fence.

But the idea of the solution is quite simple.

Draw (sketch) the circle with the center at the given point.

Identify what parts and that areas are feasible. These parts are the parts of the given circle and, probably,
the parts of one or a couple other circles.

Then calculate the areas of these parts and add them.

Having such instructions, any student, who knows abc's of geometry, can complete the solution on his (or her) own.

If you still are unsatisfied and/or have questions, do not hesitate to post them to me.

Next time think how to bring the problem's description to the forum in ABSOLUTELY proper, clear and correct form.

If you don't know how to present a picture in the forum, write it in your post saying

"I don't know how to present a picture in this forum; please instruct me"

Then some of the tutors will explain it to you.

REMEMBER: it is YOUR responsibility and YOUR duty to present your problem in proper and clear form.
