Diameter = AB = 5
Radius = Diameter/2 = 5/2 = 2.5

The radius is 2.5 centimeters

Without the diagram, it's not possible to know what you mean by "shaded portion". Please make a new post with that diagram included. Thank you.

Edit: The tutor @greenestamps makes a good point. Something like AC = 7 isn't possible if you want all three points (A,B,C) to be on the triangle, and have AB = 5 be the diameter. Sounds like there's a typo somewhere.

The statement of the problem is nonsense.

If AB with length 5cm is a diameter, then the maximum distance between any two points on the circle is 5cm; AC can't have a length of 7cm.
