(2) The top and bottom of the original nut, with the hole drilled out -- 6cm by 6cm, minus the area of the circle with diameter 3.5cm (radius 1.75cm); and
(3) The lateral surface area of the cylindrical hole, with radius 1.75cm and height 4cm.

Use your basic area formulas and add the pieces to get the total surface area.
