Question 1084261: Hello, Two square based similar pyramids A and B. A) slant height =16m Lateral Area= 320m sq B) Slant Height = 9.6 m Lateral Area ?
What is the lateral area of B?
Thanks for any help. Don't know why I can't get the right answer.
The similarity coefficient is = = 0.6 (the ratio of the smaller to the larger corresponding elements).
Therefore, the ratio of corresponding areas is = 0.36. Is it clear to you ?
If it is clear, then the lateral area of the smaller pyramid is 0.36 of the lateral area of the larger pyramid,
i.e. 0.36*320 = 115.2 square feet.
