Question 1034468: What is the surface area for a soccer ball with an edge length of 2 inches. I found the area of 12 pentagons and 20 hexagons since that's how many they are in a soccer ball. For 12 pentagons I got 82.56 and for 20 hexagons I got 207.84. I don't know what to do from here.

You can put this solution on YOUR website!
.
For 12 regular pentagons of side length 2 cm I got 82.58 sq cm
For the 20 regular hexagons I got 207.85 sq cm.
Add 82.58+207.85=290.43 sq cm
.
A modern soccer ball does not have an edge length. It is a sphere.
If you need to calculate the area of the sphere formed by 20 hexagons and 12 pentagons given the length of an edge of one of the hexagons, google surface area of icosohedron because the math gets sort of intense (pages and pages).
