Hi there,
If your baseball fits tightly
into the box the dimensions will be:
Length = 3 inches
Breadth = 3 inches
Height = 3 inches
Surface area:
6 x 3 x 3 = 54 inches^2
If the box has a top
5 x 3 x 3 = 45 inches^2
If the box has no top.

SA = 6s^2 where s = edge length.
s >= 3 inches to contain a baseball.
