You can put this solution on YOUR website!
A circular cylinder is circumscribed about a right prism having a square base of one meter on an edge. The volume of a cylinder is 6.283 cubic m.
Find its altitude in meters
:
The hypotenuse of the square base of the prism = the diameter (d) of the base of the cylinder.
d = sqrt%281%5E2+%2B+1%5E2%29
d = sqrt%282%29
the radius of the cylinder
r = sqrt%282%29%2F2
The volume of the cylinder,
h = the altitude of the cylinder
pi%2A%28sqrt%282%29%2F2%29%5E2%2A+h+=+6.283
divide both sides by pi
%28sqrt%282%29%2F2%29%5E2%2A+h+=+2
%282%2F4%29%2A+h+=+2
.5h = 2
h = 2/.5
h = 4 meters is the altitude of the cylinder
