You can put this solution on YOUR website! Hi there,
A rectangle with a length and width equal to 6 cm and 4 cm respectively is revolved about its length.
Radius = 4 cm, Height = 6 cm
Lateral Area (Side without ends)
(pi x diameter) x Height
(pi x 8) x 6
= 150.8 cm^2
.......
Surface area (Sides + Ends)
(pi x diameter) x Height + (2 x pi x r^2)
(pi x 8) x 6 + (2 x pi x 4^2)
= 251.3 cm^2
........
Volume = pi x radius^2 x height
Volume = pi x 4^2 x 6
Volume = 301.6 cm^3
.........
b) Revolved around its width
Radius = 6 cm, Height 4cm
Volume = pi x radius^2 x height
Volume = pi x 6^2 x 4
Volume = 452.4 cm^3
............
Hope this helps :-)
