7x-8y=-16, the first equation.
7x-8y%2B8y=-16%2B8y, Addition Property of Equality
7x%2B0=-16%2B8y, Additive Inverse Property
7x=8y-16, Addition Property of Zero and Commutative Property of Addition.
This last equation is identical in form and equivalent to the second equation.
