A slide is 22 ft. long. The ladder leading to the slide is 18 ft. long. How far is it from the end of the slide to the foot of the ladder? (Basically, this is a right triangle with one side that is 18 ft, and one that is 22ft. Answer by solver91311(24713) (Show Source):
You don't bother to mention which of the angles in the triangle is the right angle. If it is the angle between the slide and the ladder, you get one answer, but if it is the angle between the ladder and the ground, that is an entirely different matter.
First way:
Second way:
Either way, you get to do your own arithmetic. Probably the first way though. The second way is a steeper slide than I would want to get on.
