You can put this solution on YOUR website!
"One eighth of the square root of 7 less than a number is 2" can be written:
Let n equal the number:
%281%2F8%29%28n-sqrt%287%29%29+=+2 Multiply both sides by 8.
%28n-sqrt%287%29%29+=+16 Now addsqrt%287%29 to both sides.
n+=+16%2Bsqrt%287%29...and, if you need an approximate value for n, then take the square root of 7 (an irrational number):
n+=+16%2B2.6457
n+=+18.6457 Approximately.
Or is it:
%281%2F8%29%28sqrt%28n-7%29%29+=+2??? then use Checkley's answer!

You can put this solution on YOUR website!
1/8*SQRT(X-7)=2 NOW SQUARE BOTH SIDES.
1/64(X-7)=4
(X-7)/64=4 CROSS MULTIPLY.
X-7=256
X=256+7
X=263 ANSWER.
PROOF:
1/8*SQRT(263-7)=2
1/8*SQRT*256=2
1/8*16=2
16/8=2
2=2
