Question 119405: A rectangle has a perimeter of 78 inches. Its length is 6 inches more than twice its width.
a. make a sketch of the rectangle and label its sides
b. find the recangle's length and width.
I tried doing this but it gets me confused.
I did:
78=2w+6
72=2w
Then I'm just lost. If i continue, the perimeter doesnt add up. Please help!

Question 120827: When two negative numbers are multiplied the answer is postive. For example,
(-a x -b)=ab. What is the best conceptual explanation for this? The rule says a negative multiplied by a negative is a postive. What is the best way to explain why this rule is true?
I am stumped on the explanation. Thanks.

Question 109894: I have a problem I would like to get your opinion on for my answer.
Here it is: Evaluate each of the expressions if a=-2, b=5, c=-4, d=6 So here is the problem: b(with a sq rt of 2) - 2bc + c (with a sq. rt of 2)
My answer is this 5(5)- 2(5)(-4)+(-4 sq. rt of 2) am I on the right track here for my answer.
I am sorry I could not place the sq.rt of 2 with the first letter "b" and the last letter "c" I could not figure out on this web page how to do that. I appreciate your help on this for me.
