First of all you can add the two terms on the left together because they are like terms.
And always remember a variable in an equation, if it does not have a number i front of it, there is a one.
So the equation actually is:
1x+0.02x=255
You add the left side terms together:
1.02x=255
Then you divide both sides by 1.02 so you can have the x by itself.

x=250
