I don't know how to make the Sigma sign, but the upper limit=8; lower limit=0; function 3*2^j
Here's how I did it:
= (3*2^0) + (3*2^1) + (3*2^2)+ (3*2^3) + (3*2^4) + (3*2^5) + (3*2^6) + (3*2^7) + (3*2^8)
= (3*1) + (3*2) + (3*4) + (3*8) + (3*16) + (3*32) + (3*64) + (3*128) + (3*256)
= 3 + 6 + 12 + 24 + 48 + 96 +192 + 384 + 768
= 1533
Is this right? And/or is there an easier way to do it?
