SOLUTION: This should be an easy question, I'm just stumped.
Write down the nth term of the sequence suggested by the pattern 1, 1/2, 3, 1/4, 5, 1/6, 7, 1/8,...
Any help would be nice.

Question 85822: This should be an easy question, I'm just stumped.
Write down the nth term of the sequence suggested by the pattern 1, 1/2, 3, 1/4, 5, 1/6, 7, 1/8,...

You can put this solution on YOUR website! Call "n" the number of the term in the sequence. Then you can write:
.
When n = 1 the term is 1
When n = 2 the term is
When n = 3 the term is 3
When n = 4 the term is
When n = 5 the term is 5
When n = 6 the term is
When n = 7 the term is 7
When n = 8 the term is
.
And you can extend this sequence using the following two rules:
.
If n = odd, the term is n and
If n = even, the term is
.
So for the 100th term (n = 100, an even number) the term in the sequence should be
and for the
101st term (n = 101, an odd number) the term in the sequence should be 101.
.
Hope this works for you.
