You can put this solution on YOUR website! The third term of a g.p is 12 and the first term is 48.find the sum of the first 11 terms
let a 1 be the first term,
r the common ratio,
n the term number.
The nth term of GP is tn = ar^(n-1)
third term of a G P is 12
t3 = 12 = 48 * r^2
12/48 = r^2
1/4 = r^2
r = 1/2
Sn sum of n terms of G P =
S 11 = (48*((1/2)^11 -1))/ ((1/2)-1)}},
=96 (ROUNDED OFF)
the terms are
48, 24, 12, 6, 3, 3/2, 3/4, 3/8, 3/16, 3/32, 3/64
