Question 1169384: Hello this is more of a questions where I just need an explanation and not the answer.
The question states
With Sn denoting the sum of the first n terms of an arithmetic sequence, we are given that S1=9 and S2=20.
Can you please explain to me what denoting means?
The denoting S1 = 9 literally means that the sum of 1 term is 9.
It is, of course, the same as to say that the first term is 1.
The denoting S20 = 20 means that the sum of the first 20 terms of the progression is equal to 20.
