p(letter card) = p(ace OR king OR queen OR jack) = p(ace) + p(king) + p(queen) + p(jack) = 16/52.
p(black card AND letter card = p({ace,king,queen,jack of spades) + p(ace,king,queen,jack of clubs}) = 8/52
p(black card OR letter card) = p(black card) + p(letter card) - p(black card AND letter card) = 26/52 + 16/52 - 8/52 = 34/52 = 17/26.
