Question 1102600: Having a discussion about this sequence
1, 1, 2, 15, 104, 695
In my opinion, next numbers are 2885, 8571, 20219 etc.
But he argues that it is 5004 instead of 2885.
Who is right? Thanks!

You can put this solution on YOUR website!
Without any context to tell us something about what kind of sequence this is, both your answers are right.
... And I say the next two numbers are pi and the square root of 79. Again without any context, my answer is as good as either of yours, and as good as ANY other.
Given any finite sequence of numbers, you can put any numbers you want next, and it will be a valid sequence.
The one formal mathematical method I know that can always be used to answer a problem like this gives the next three numbers as 2885, 2752, and 21659. Those are similar to yours; perhaps you are using the same method as I am, but either your calculations or mine contain errors.
I don't know any method that is going to give the same sequence of numbers except with 2885 replaced by 5004. But it is completely possible that the other person has a perfectly logical reason for why it should be so.
But in the end the bottom line on ANY problem like this is that you can never know what the "right" answer is.
