Look at the sequence

5 terms starting with a, each successive term removes 2.
The sum would be,
S=a%2Ba-2%2Ba-4%2Ba-6%2Ba-8
S=5a-20
S=5%28a-4%29
or in terms of the number of values,
S=5%28a-4%29=n%28a-%28n-1%29%29=n%28a%2B1-n%29
So in your sequence,
