Question 974738: the perimeter of a rectangle is 120 cm. when the width is increased by 9 cm and the length decreased by 9 cm, the figure becomes a square. What are the dimensions?

Houses A, B, C need to be connected to water, gas, and electricity (W,G,E) without any of the pipes or wires crossing over eachother. This is a Henry Dudeney puzzle and I believe it does not work. However, suppose one of the houses, say B, is willing to let a pipe from his neighbors connections pass through his house. Then can all the connections be made? If so how?
