1*yard_________2*feet________10*inch
MINUS
0*yard________3*feet_________8*inch


Clearly the 1 yard is larger than the 0 yards. The subtraction can be done. You understand unit conversions and borrowing? The 2 feet must borrow the 1 yard as 3 feet. The 10 inch does not need to borrow anything.
