Question 948534: At the local ballpark, the team charges $5 for each ticket and expects to make $1,100 in concessions. The team
must pay its players $1,300 and pay all other workers $1,600. Each fan gets a free bat that costs the team $3
per bat. How many tickets must be sold to break even?

You can put this solution on YOUR website!
Since we are trying to break even, all the cost must be equal to the earnings.
Let X = number of tickets.
Total Cost = 1300+%2B+1600+%2B+3X
Total Earnings = 5X+%2B+1100
Now set those two equations equal to each other and solve for X
1300+%2B+1600+%2B+3X+=+5X+%2B+1100
Combine like terms
2900+%2B+3X+=+5X+%2B+1100
Subtract 1100 from both sides}}}
1800+%2B+3X+=+5X
Subtract 3X from both sides.
1800+=+2X
Divide both sides by 2
highlight%28900+=+X%29
900 tickets must be sold to break even.
