as per Pythagorean theorem

l%5E2%2B8%5E2=12%5E2
l%5E2%2B64+=144
move 64 to the right
+l%5E2=144-64
l%5E2=80
squaring on both sides
sqrt%28l%5E2%29+=sqrt%2880%29
l =8.94 m
Result : length = 8.94 m
