You can put this solution on YOUR website!

The length Lof a rectangle is 4cm longer than its width W.
=> L=W%2B4cm...eq.1
If the perimeter P=2L%2B2W of the rectangle is 44cm},
=>2L%2B2W=44cm ...substitute W%2B4cm for L from eq.1
2%28W%2B4cm%29%2B2W=44cm ...solve for W
cross%282%29%28W%2B4cm%29%2Bcross%282%29W=cross%2844%2922cm
W%2B4cm%2BW=22cm
2W=22cm-4cm
2W=18cm
highlight%28W=9cm%29
go back to eq.1 and substitute 9cm for W
L=9cm%2B4cm...eq.1
highlight%28L=13cm%29
and its area will be:
A=L%2AW
A=13cm%2A9cm
highlight%28A=117cm%5E2%29
