The mathematics or the arithmetic is the same as for measures of 1 or greater. No difference.
EXAMPLES:
Rectangle of length 12 units, width 3 units;
Area is 12*3=36 square units.
Rectangle of length 1.25 units, width 0.7 units;
Area is 1.25*0.7=0.875 square units, an area value of less than 1 square unit.
