Question 768086: I have a sheet of board 1200mm wide and 50000mm long which i have to cut rectangular sheets out of on a 45 degree angle. if the width of these sheets is 346mm, what is the total number of sheet i can cut out of this one board? is there a formula for this?

x y plane, rectangle with sides two adjacent sides, from (0,0) to (50000,0) and from (0,0) to (0,1200). Sketch a segment from (0,0) with slope 1, 346 units in length. Draw a segment extending from this endpoint to the x-axis. Now you have an isosceles 45-45-90 triangle. Hypotenuse is 346 units. Calculate the length of a leg of this triangle. How many of these leg legnths are still contained along the x-axis which still hold a rectangular form?
