I take it that this is the problem. If so, it is an order of operations problem.
The order of operations tells you which of the mathmatical operations should be done first to solve an equation. Parentheses always come first and overrule the usual order if they are present. Then, things are done basically in most to least complicated operations.
First: what is inside parentheses
Next: exponents
Next: multiplication or division
Next: addition or subtraction
If operations are equal on this list, then do them left to right.
So:
12-4*11/2+15
no parentheses or exponents, so do the multiplication and division
12-4*11/2+15
12-44/2+15
12-22+15
Now do the addition and subtraction
-10+15
