Note: As to the Area of a rectangle: A = l*w

let w be the width.  Then (w+8cm) would be the length

w%28w+%2B+8%29=+180%5Ecm

w%5E2+%2B+8w+=+180%5Ecm

w%5E2+%2B+8w+-+180%5Ecm+=+0

(w +18)(w - 10) = 0

w = -18 cannot use this value for w

w = 10cm and l = 18cm

check your answer

10cm*19cm = 180cm^2
