the length of a rectangular picture is seven inches longer than the width. find the length and width if the perimeter of the picture is 62 inches
length L = width W + 7
perimeter P = 62 = 2(L + W) = 2L + 2W
62 = 2L + 2W
31 = L + W
31 = (W + 7) + W
31 = 2W + 7
24 = 2W
12 inches = W
so L = 19 inches

You can put this solution on YOUR website!

L=W+7
P=2(L+W)=62
2(L+W)=62
L+W =31
W+7+W =31

W=(31-7)/2=12 in
L=W+7=12+7=19 in
