There is no way to solve this problem as you have stated it. A 120 square inch rectangle could be 0.25 inches tall by 40 feet long, or it could be 1 inch wide by 10 feet tall. Given just the area of a rectangle, there are an infinite number of solutions. Now if it were true that the dimensions of the rectangular hole were in the same proportions as the 6 by 8 inch picture or you have any other fact that would allow you to determine the relationship between the lengths of the sides of the hole, then you would have a unique solution.
