You can put this solution on YOUR website!
The area of a rectangle is 40.if the length is 6 more than the width, find the dimensions of the rectangle.

Ok, so you know that L=w%2B6.

Plug this and your known area into the formula for area of a rectangle which is:
A=L%2Aw

Here it is with the values plugged in:
40=w%2B6%2Aw

Multiply:
40=w%2B6w

Add:
40=7w

Divide both sides by 7:
5 5/7=w

Just add 6 to that to find your length, which is 11 5/7.
And there's your answer.

Check:
40=5 5/7+6*5 5/7

Multiply:
40=5 5/7+34 2/7

Add:
40=40
