L = unknown length
W = 8 is the width

P = perimeter of the rectangle
P = 2*(L+W)
2(L+W) = 26
2(L+8) = 26
L+8 = 26/2
L+8 = 13
L = 13-8
L = 5

Another way to solve
2(L+8) = 26
2L+16 = 26
2L = 26-16
2L = 10
L = 10/2
L = 5

The rectangle is 8 cm wide and 5 cm tall.
