Ahmed and Manu work in a sweet shop .During Eid, Ahmed and Manu charge RS 200 and RS 250 a day, respectively, to work in the kitchen. Their combined earnings during the Eid period was Rs. 3900. If, in total, Manu earned Rs. 1100 more than Ahmed, how many days did each one work for what payment did each one receive?
Let Ahmed work for a days
and manu work for m days
combined earnings during the Eid period was Rs. 3900.
200a + 250m =3900
Manu earned Rs. 1100 more than Ahmed,
250m = 200a+1100
Solve the equations
200.00 a + 250.00 m = 3900.00
-200.00 a + 250.00 m = 1100.00 .............2
Eliminate m
multiply (1)by -1
Multiply (2) by 1
-200.00 a -250.00 m = -3900.00
-200.00 a 250.00 m = 1100.00
Add the two equations
-400.00 a = -2800.00
/ -400.00
a = 7.00
plug value of a in (1)
200.00 a + 250.00 m = 3900.00
1400.00 + 250.00 m = 3900.00
250.00 m = 2500.00
m = 10.00
Ahmed 7 days,Manu 10 days

You can put this solution on YOUR website! .
M + A = 3900
M - A = 1100
--------------------Add the equations
2M = 3900 + 1100 = 5000 ===> M = 2500 ===> Manu worked 2500/250 = 10 days.
Subtract the equation
2A = 3900-1100 = 2800 ====> A = 1400 ====> Ahmed worked 1400/200 = 7 days.
Solved (in a simplest way).
