You can put this solution on YOUR website!
-----------------------------------------------
The perimeter of a rectangular outdoor patio is 58 ft. The length is 35ft. greater than the width. What are the dimensions of the patio?
----------------------------------------------

--------------------------------------------------
The perimeter of a rectangular outdoor patio is P ft. The length is K ft. greater than the width w. What are the dimensions of the patio?
--------------------------------------------------

Dimensions w+K and w.
%28w%2BK%29%2Bw=P%2F2
-
w%2BK%2Bw=P%2F2
2w%2BK=P%2F2
2w=P%2F2-K
w=%28P%2F2-K%29%281%2F2%29
w=P%2F4-K%2F2
Substitute the given values and solve.

That should give w=%2858%2F4-35%29=-20.5----------NO GOOD!

QUICK RETRY:
w%2B35%2Bw=58%2F2
2w%2B35=29----------this makes no sense; w would be negative.

The problem description does not work.

The clumsy equations shown by the other tutor are useless in this problem....

If the length is 35 ft more than the width, then the whole perimeter can't be only 58 ft; twice 35 ft is already more than 58 ft....
