if his room is 10 feet long and 10 feet wide, the area will be
10ft%2A10ft=100ft%5E2

to find out how much of the floor in Ron's room will not be covered by the rug, deduct the area of the rug from the area of the room
100ft%5E2-40ft%5E2=60ft%5E2

so, 60ft%5E2 of the floor in Ron's room will not be covered by the rug
