You can put this solution on YOUR website!
.
the length of a rectangle is 8 cm less than three times its width. the area is thirteen times the width. find the length and width of the rectangle
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
From the condition, you momentarily get length  L = 13.
Then for the width W you have  an equation  L = 3*W-8,  or  13 = 3W -8,
which gives you  3W = 13 + 8 = 21  and  W = 21%2F3 = 7.
Answer.  7 and 13.
