*[youtube V5qbhx99_sk] In this video lesson, I explain what rational functions are and how to find their domains. In the video, I explain that rational functions are made from linear functions kind of like how fractions are made from whole numbers. Next, I explain what is meant by a domain: when we have a function, often times any number x that we plug in will give a number y. But when we are dividing by variables, a problem may arise: what if we end up dividing by 0? So there has to be some restriction on which numbers can be plugged into a function and which numbers can't- all those numbers that work form the domain of a given function. Then, using several examples, I show how to find the domain of some rational functions. For more details, see the video lesson!
