Write the following as a piecewise function:
f(x) = |x+3| - |x-1|

Question 937176: I don't think I put this in the right section, but I couldn't find the one I was looking for.
Write the following as a piecewise function:
f(x) = |x+3| - |x-1|
I know how to work out similar functions (like this: f(x)= |x^2 -5x+6|) but this one is set out differently and I'm a bit stuck.
Any help would be appreciated!

You can put this solution on YOUR website! f(x) = |x+3| - |x-1|
= -x-3 +x-1 for x < -3
= x+3 +x-1 for -3 < x < 1
= x+3-x+1 for x > 1
